6 Different Types of Valve Assemblies

McRae Engineering Equipment Limited has established a country-wide reputation for being a top equipment supplier to industrial businesses. For decades, we have been a trusted source for complete valve assemblies. Our ability to deliver quality valve assemblies comes from long-standing partnerships with renowned manufacturers such as Edwards Valves, Posi-Flate, Hills McCanna, Poynton Valve (Swiss Valve), and Baronshire.
At McRae, we carry different types of valve assemblies so that every application will have a solution. In today’s blog, we will be providing brief overviews of each of these systems.
Here are the valve assemblies to be found at McRae:
Ball Valves
Ball valve are the most economical choice for valve assemblies. They have a metal ball that has a hole bored through the centre, held in between two seats to control flow. They are best suited useful for low-flow situations. They are quick opening and provide a very tight closure on hard-to-hold fluids, such as hydrocarbons, gases, and vapours.
Butterfly Valves
Butterfly valves utilize a quarter-turn rotational motion to stop, regulate, and start flow. For this reason, they are easy to operate and can be used in most light to medium applications. They perform well in slurry applications, and are typically preferred for their compact design, low weight, quick operation, low-pressure drops, and high-pressure recovery.
Posi-Flate Valves
We carry two types of inflatable seated butterfly valves from Posi-Flate, one being the heavy duty series and one being the regular series. They both function as butterfly valves, but they utilize air pressure to expand the seat against the disc, providing even pressure distribution for a bubble-tight seal. As the name implies, the heavy duty series is design for more severe conditions and higher operating pressures.
Gate, Globe, and Check Valves
McRae’s supply of gate, globe, and check valves features various designs and manufacturers for a full catalogue of solutions for your applications. These valves can be used for isolation, manual flow control, or non-return services.
Baronshire Valves
These valves are best suited for lower pressures, and as such are used extensively in the pharmaceutical and food processing industries. They have an undercut disc/stem that facilitates its functionality in low torque outputs. Its unique body design allows these valves to be used as wafer-pattern valve assemblies, while also allowing butt weld or tri-clamp ends to be bolted directly onto the valve body.
Edward Valves
These are our highest-performing valves for critical service conditions. These forged and cast steel valves are best used for applications in power plants, process facilities, and other high-temperature, high pressure services. These valves feature body-guided disks to prevent side thrusts. Its design helps it to eliminate stem galling and binding, disk-seat misalignment and damage, and high operating torque.
No matter what kind of valve assembly you need, you can count on us at McRae to provide you with a wide range of options. Contact us today to learn more about our products!
